Joseph Budna released on bail of $15,000; court orders he stay off-radar pending outcome of case

By Aaron Humes: Four days after first being arraigned on a charge of abetment to murder in Belmopan, social media personality Joseph Budna is out on bail of $15,000 or three sureties of $5,000 granted by the High Court.

Attorney Arthur Saldivar, who represented Budna, told us that his client has been ordered not to discuss the case in public or via social media for the duration of the proceedings, in addition to avoiding prosecution witnesses and reporting to his home police station.

Budna is accused of assisting in causing the death of Armando Coy Cacao, 50, a Guatemalan national, in July of 2021 in Belmopan.

He has denied the charges and said publicly following his arraignment if that if he were found dead, the police would be to blame as they supposedly have a vendetta against him. Reports earlier this week said he had been placed in protective custody at the Belize Central Prison at Hattieville until his release on bail.

Budna returns to court in November.
