By Rubén Morales Iglesias: As the Paris 2024 Olympics continue, China has been able to maintain the lead after taking over from Japan. China now leads the medal tally with 15 gold, 11 silver, and 9 bronze for a total of 35 medals.
Australia took over the second spot with 12 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze for a total of 24.
The United States now have 51 medals total and have moved up to third place. Though at one point on Friday they were at second, they dropped to fourth but a gold and two bronze earlier on Saturday move them past host nation France. The United States now has 11 gold, 20 silver, and 20 bronze.
France drops to fourth place with 11 gold, 14 silver, and 15 bronze for a total of 40 medals.
Great Britain also fell to fifth place with 10 gold, 10 silver, and 12 bronze for a total of 32.
Japan is now in seventh place with 8 gold, 4 silver, and 8 bronze, behind Korea who sport 9 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze.
