Commissioner of Police says suspects held in Deannie Requena stabbing – injuries ‘not serious’

By Aaron Humes: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams this evening updated the investigation into an attack on former Belize City Councilor and businesswoman Deannie Requena in the Hattieville area.

Requena was found with injuries to the face and neck around 1:30 this afternoon along the George Price Highway and taken to Police who took her to hospital. Still, the Commissioner described Requena as “not seriously injured.” Nonetheless, he asked for prayers for her “quick and complete recovery.”

Requena has made a police report, Williams said, and the persons believed responsible for her injuries have been apprehended and “are expected to be charged tomorrow.” There was no indication of a possible motive and how many persons were involved.
