By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Under-15 Belize Girls National Team (BGNT) fell 5-1 on Monday in their opening game at the Larry Gomes Stadium in the V Concacaf Girls’ U-15 Championship (League B) being held in Trinidad and Tobago from August 5-11, 2024.
J. Sánchez scored a brace for Honduras in the 3rd and 33rd minutes. C. Farmer scored in the 31st, P. Ramírez in the 68th, and D. Rodríguez in the 70th.
Betsy Perez scored for Belize.
“Tough game today, but we’re proud of our team’s effort and determination. Final score Match 1: Belize 1-5 Honduras!” the FFB said in a brief statement posted on social media.
“It’s time to regroup, learn, and come back stronger next time. To all the football family, a big thank you for the unwavering support! Our journey in the Concacaf U15 Girls Championship continues tomorrow as the team faces up against Cuba! Let’s go Belize.”
After Honduras, the U-15 BGNT will be facing Cuba and Barbados in Group E. Belize will play Cuba on Tuesday, August 6, at 3:00 pm. Then, on Thursday, August 8, they will tackle Barbados at 1:00 pm.
