By Horace Palacio: Belizeans woke up to mostly sunny skies and a light easterly breeze this morning as light and mostly dry airflow dominated the weather patterns. The National Meteorological Service predicts similar conditions to persist throughout Tuesday, with isolated shower activity expected.
Temperatures along the coast are expected to reach a high of 90°F (32°C), while inland areas could see temperatures climb to 96°F (36°C). The hills will experience slightly cooler temperatures, with highs around 82°F (28°C).
While Belize enjoys pleasant weather, Hurricane Debby is churning in the Gulf of Mexico, posing a threat to Florida. As of 6:00 AM on Monday, the hurricane was located 65 miles north-northwest of Cedar Key, Florida, moving north-northeast at 10 mph with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph.
Residents of Florida are advised to stay vigilant and follow the instructions of local authorities as Hurricane Debby continues its path.
Marine conditions around Belize remain favorable, with winds blowing from the east-southeast at 5-15 knots. The sea state is slight, with waves ranging from 1-3 feet.
The tides are expected to reach their highest point at 10:16 AM and 11:20 PM today, while the lowest points are anticipated at 5:29 PM today and 4:48 AM tomorrow.
The National Meteorological Service forecasts similar weather conditions for Tuesday and Tuesday night. However, residents are advised to stay updated on the latest weather reports.
