Belize considers commencing initiative to plant 1 million trees!

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Cabinet has tasked the Minister of Sustainable Development with leading a new initiative to engage all Belizeans in planting 1 million trees over the next five years. 

During cabinet’s meeting on August 6, 2024, cabinet discussed the proposed initiative.

The focus will be on urban and suburban areas, with potential policy and legislative changes to support the project. 

The initiative aims to enhance the greening of both protected and unprotected areas, including coastal, marine, and terrestrial environments.
