By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City police officer has been charged and placed on interdiction following an alleged altercation with a fellow officer.
Albert Clinton Sutherland, 37, was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today on a single charge of wounding. The charge stems from an incident on July 12, 2024, in which Sutherland is accused of punching Police Constable Arnaldo Ical of Dangriga Town, causing injuries to his face.
Sutherland, who was unrepresented in court, pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was granted bail of $1,000 with conditions, including a prohibition on contacting the complainant or any prosecution witnesses.
The case has been adjourned until October 7, 2024.
