By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Corozal Bay Area Representative Elvia Vega Samos called out the PUP for “disrespecting” her.
Vega Samos says that she is being evicted from her constituency office.
“From major undermining from the very beginning of my term to being the only sitting area rep to be challenged to an unjust convention to now being told that I must leave the office. Total disrespect…. What’s next? I was elected by the people and I will serve my term to the very end,” Vega Samos said.
However, following the recent convention, Vega Samos believes that she is being pushed out to make way for her successor Thea Garcia Ramirez.
Thea has since responded saying that she did reach out to Vega to “chart the way forward”.
“I had reached out to Hon Elvia Vega Samos following the Corozal Bay Convention for PUP Standard Bearer. For the record the PUP office on College Road belongs to the PUP Corozal Bay Executive. A new PUP Corozal Bay Executive will be sworn in over the weekend. I had asked to work out a schedule that would allow us both to use the office space moving forward. I never received an answer,” Garcia Ramirez explained.
“I would like to assure Corozal Bay, People’s United Party supporters and the general public that while it would have been convenient to use the PUP office it is not indispensable. My work as Standard Bearer of the People’s United Party does not require the use of a particular office space and can happen from anywhere. All it requires is my continued unrelenting commitment, undivided focus, and overwhelming love for Corozal Bay,” Garcia Ramirez added.
Ramirez further invited Vega Samos to continue to use the office as long as she feels it is necessary.
