By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Benny’s Belize Hurricanes’ Victor Evans was selected as the Belize Elite Basketball League (BEBL) Final Series Most Valuable Player (MVP) after the ‘Canes secured their fourth national basketball title on Friday night at the Belize City Civic Center with an 89-69 win over archrivals, the Belize City Defenders.
Evans was pivotal in leading the Hurricanes to back-to-back championships. On Friday night, Evans hurt the Defenders with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.
The Defenders had previously won national titles in 2016 and 2018 before the National Elite Basketball League changed its name to the Belize Elite Basketball League.
The Hurricanes won the Final Series 3-2. They triumphed in Game One 87-63, Game Four 94-70, and Game Five 89-69. They fell in Game Two 62-61 and in Game Three 81-75.
