By Horace Palacio: The National Meteorological Service of Belize has issued a forecast for continued somewhat moist and unstable conditions across the country. Residents and visitors can expect a mix of sun and clouds today, with a few showers and thunderstorms likely, particularly along the coast this morning.
Skies are expected to be sunny with intermittent cloudy spells. A few showers and thunderstorms are anticipated, primarily affecting the coastal regions this morning. However, shower activity is projected to decrease by the afternoon, becoming more isolated. Later tonight, shower activity is expected to increase again, mainly over southern and coastal areas.
Mariners can expect east-southeasterly winds blowing at 5 to 15 knots, leading to choppy sea conditions with waves reaching 3 to 5 feet.
Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 88°F (31°C) along the coast and 92°F (33°C) inland. The hills will experience cooler temperatures, with highs around 77°F (25°C).
The good news is that no tropical cyclone formation is expected in the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of Mexico within the next 48 hours.
Skies are expected to be cloudy at times on Sunday. A few showers and thunderstorms may affect mainly northern and central areas on Sunday morning. Shower activity is expected to decrease and become isolated by Sunday afternoon and night, except for a chance of a few more showers over the south.
Residents and visitors are advised to stay updated on the latest weather information and take necessary precautions.
This forecast was prepared by Tareek Matthews from the National Meteorological Service of Belize.
