By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City woman, Shannon A. Wagner, 31, appeared in court today facing a charge of aggravated assault after allegedly attacking her childhood neighbor with a knife and a stick. The incident occurred on August 10, 2024, on Usher Street.
The complainant reported to police that Wagner, who was riding a bicycle, confronted her, leading to a verbal exchange that escalated into a physical altercation. Wagner allegedly struck her with a stick and then wielded a knife, resulting in a struggle during which the complainant was cut between her thumb and index finger. The altercation was reportedly broken up by Wagner’s brother.
Wagner, who was unrepresented in court, pleaded not guilty to the charge. She was granted bail of $1,000 with conditions, including staying 100 yards away from the complainant and avoiding any contact with her. Wagner is scheduled to return to court on October 7, 2024, where she is expected to face an additional charge for aggravated assault with a stick.
Police have recovered the knife believed to have been used in the incident, and the complainant received medical treatment for her injuries.
