Foster brother in Belmopan charged with attempted murder after stabbing

By Aaron Humes: George Gabourel, 21, has been charged with the attempted murder of his foster brother Devon Bevans, 18, in Belmopan.

According to police, in the Las Flores area, Belmopan about 11:10 p.m. Sunday, Bevans and Gabourel were about to play a video game when Gabourel jumped on Bevans’ back and they got into a struggle. Bevans received several stab wounds to the body.

Reports say Bevans was on his laptop when Gabourel asked to join him; when Bevans agreed, Gabourel jumped on him and sat on his back then pulled his head backwards and using a knife proceeded to slit his throat and further stabbed him as he tried to get away. Gabourel also threatened their foster mother when she tried to intervene.
