By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two men, Kentroy Marlon McKoy, 25, and Degron Shakeel Joseph, 25, were charged on Tuesday for the August 4, 2024, shooting murder of fisherman Mark Francisco in Belize City. The men, known to police, were initially detained under a 90-day State of Emergency (SOE) order shortly after the murder.
Police linked McKoy, a car dealer, and Joseph, a customer service agent, to the crime after reviewing surveillance footage that traced their alleged movements before and after the murder. The footage purportedly captured the men in a silver Toyota 4Runner involved in the shooting and a subsequent vehicle crash.
The two suspects were brought from prison on a removal order and formally charged with murder at the Queen Street Police Station this morning. They were later remanded to the Belize Central Prison until their next court date on October 10, 2024.
McKoy was previously acquitted of another murder charge in 2023 after spending four years on remand. The police investigation into Francisco’s murder is ongoing.
