Ernesto becomes 3rd Hurricane of 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Data from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) noted that Ernesto has strengthened to a hurricane.

Ernesto is the fifth named storm and the third hurricane of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

Flooding is likely across Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands as heavy rains continue. 

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for the British Virgin Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Vieques and Culebra.

On the forecast track, the center of Ernesto will continue to move away from Puerto Rico today, move across the western Atlantic during the next few days, and approach Bermuda Friday and Saturday.

Additional strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days.
