By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 28-year-old resident of Victoria Street, Derrick Tyron Jones, is out on bail after being accused of threatening to kill his neighbor and throwing glass bottles at him. Jones appeared unrepresented before a Magistrate in Court #2 on Tuesday. He was charged with one count of throwing missiles and one count of threat of death.
The incident allegedly occurred on Monday, August 12, 2024, when Jones is accused of throwing a glass bottle in the direction of his neighbor and threatening him by saying, “Ah wah tek this and if yuh come for it, ah wah burst yuh head and kill yuh.”
Jones pleaded not guilty to both charges but was reminded by the Magistrate that his opportunity to explain would come during the trial. With no objections from the prosecution, Jones was granted bail of $1,000. The conditions of his bail include not contacting or interfering with Gladden or any other prosecution witnesses, staying 100 yards away from his neighbor, and avoiding any further legal trouble.
Jones is scheduled to return to court on October 8, 2024.
