By Aaron Humes: Police have arrested and charged 24-year-old Kenroy Cal, the Chairman of Red Bank Village, Stann Creek District, with rape, and an alleged accomplice, Ralph Acal, with abetment to commit rape.
According to a police report, two women accompanied Cal and Acal to an area behind a restaurant in Santa Cruz, Stann Creek, early on Sunday morning. One of them said she was forcefully touched in her vagina and breasts by Cal, who threatened harm if she screamed.
The complainant alleged that Cal took off her clothes, turned her around and allegedly forced vaginal intercourse, but she pushed him away and ran toward her female friend. They scrambled for a fence and escaped despite Cal trying to pull her back, causing bruises to her stomach and thigh.
The women reported the matter to police and the complainant underwent medical examination. Cal and Acal retained an attorney and submitted to a Police interview where on legal advice they declined to answer questions as is their right. They also refused to take part in an identification parade.
