By Horace Palacio: The National Meteorological Service of Belize has issued its morning forecast for today, August 28, 2024, predicting moist and unstable conditions across the country.
Residents can expect a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day, with isolated showers or thunderstorms developing in the morning. These scattered showers will primarily affect inland areas in the afternoon and spread to most areas by tonight.
Coastal temperatures will range from a high of 90°F (32°C) to a low of 82°F (28°C), while inland areas will experience highs of 94°F (34°C) and lows of 73°F (23°C). Hilly regions can expect slightly cooler temperatures, with highs reaching 82°F (28°C) and lows dipping to 68°F (20°C).
Marine conditions will remain relatively calm, with easterly winds blowing at 5-10 knots and slight sea states with waves reaching 1-3 feet.
The forecast for Thursday and Thursday night calls for a continuation of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms across the country.
The good news is that there is no expectation of tropical cyclone formation in the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of Mexico within the next 48 hours.
Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather information and take necessary precautions, especially if planning outdoor activities.
