The shoe on the other foot: Marcel Cardona chastises Patrick Faber, UDP over constructive resignation

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Former Orange Walk East Area Representative Marcel Cardona is chastising Patrick Faber who finds himself in a similar position as Cardona was when Faber was the Chairman of the UDP. Back on March 30, 2011, Faber wrote to Cardona telling him that by his actions he (Cardona) has “constructively resigned” from the UDP.

Following recent developments within the UDP, Cardona shared that 2011 letter where he was expelled from the UDP and showing that Patrick Faber as the then Chairman of the UDP signed that letter. The 2011 letter specifically tells Cardona that “Since your conduct is utterly inconsistent and incompatible with your being a member of the UDP we deem you have ‘constructively resigned’ from the Party.”

During a meeting of the UDP executive on August 28, the UDP Executive decided that Patrick Faber, Tracy Panton, John Saldivar and Bev Williams have “constructively resigned” from the UDP. However, Tracy and her colleagues have announced via social media that they are UDP and remain standard bearers for the UDP.

In addition, Faber himself was adamant unfazed “the longest serving member of parliament, former chairman, deputy party leader/ deputy PM and former party leader… do you really think you can constructively resign me? LMAO!!”
