By Aaron Humes: A Hispanic man was found apparently dead this morning around 2:30 a.m. in San Ignacio Town, after he was fatally assaulted and apparently robbed of his motorcycle. He has since been identified as Cory Anthony Cruz of Hillview Area, Santa Elena Town.
Police were called to 15th and Vaca Street where the body was found face-up in an open lot. There was a blunt force injury to the right side of the forehead above the eye.
Investigation showed that a female was passing in the area when she saw two men, one Hispanic and the other East Indian, searching the man on the ground. She shouted at them and they fled on a motorcycle; she then went to check on the downed man and found him bleeding from the head and motionless. She then went to call police.
Police in Roaring Creek intercepted two men around 4:15 a.m. riding a black, purple, and yellow Lifan motorcycle at the Valley of Peace junction, registered to a third man suspected to be the murder victim in San Ignacio. Those men are now detained; a postmortem examination of the body has been scheduled. Police investigations continue.
