By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Softball Federation’s (BSF) XXXII Women’s National Softball Championship bats off in Sandhill on Friday evening. The tournament, which begins at 6:30 pm at the Sandhill Softball Field, runs from Friday, August 30, to Sunday, September 1.
Eight teams will compete for the national title currently held by the Belize City Beacon Softball Team.
The Esperanza Wolverines will open the national tournament at 6:30 pm against the Belize Rural Bulldogs. Following that game, the Orange Walk Palmar Jaguars will challenge the defending champions, Beacon Softball Club.
Action resumes on Saturday morning with Orange Walk’s Elite facing Belize Rural’s Unity at 9:00 am. In Game 4, Belize City’s Wolfpack will take on Roaring Creek’s Grace Kennedy.
Saturday will feature five more games, starting with the losing teams facing each other and followed by the winning teams matching up against each other. The tournament concludes on Sunday with the final six games.
Due to the current weather conditions, the BSF stated it would continue to monitor the situation closely.
