Premier League of Belize: Progresso tackle San Pedro Pirates looking to extend lead Saturday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Progresso FC, the current league leaders, are set to host San Pedro Pirates at the People’s Stadium at 7:30 pm on Saturday night in the last week of the first round of the Premier League of Belize’s 2024-2025 Opening Season.

Progresso FC have been in stellar form this season, winning all four of their matches and amassing 12 points. Their defense has been rock-solid, conceding only one goal, while their attack has produced seven goals. Progresso are banking on Andir Chi, who has scored two goals, Colombian Sebastián Valencia, who gave them the win over champions Port Layola, and new acquisitions Trimayne ‘Pepa’ Harris and Jessie August.

San Pedro Pirates, with one win, two draws, and one loss, will need to bring their best game to challenge the dominant Progresso side. The Pirates are counting on Moises Hernandez, who has scored two goals, and midfielders Delone ‘Dee Breezy’ Torres and Gabriel Ramos to work their way through the Progresso defensive line.

Can Progresso maintain their perfect record, or will the Pirates pull off an upset?
