By Horace Palacio: Belizeans can anticipate a mostly pleasant day ahead, with generally fair weather prevailing across the country.
The National Meteorological Service (NMS) forecasts sunny skies interspersed with cloudy spells today, transitioning to partly cloudy conditions tonight.
While showers or thunderstorms are expected to be isolated, there’s a slightly higher chance of them occurring over inland areas this afternoon and in southern regions tonight.
Coastal areas can look forward to comfortable temperatures, with highs near 90°F and lows around 83°F. Inland regions will be slightly warmer, reaching into the mid-90s during the day but cooling down to the mid-70s at night. The hills will experience milder temperatures, with highs in the low 80s and lows dipping into the upper 60s.
Mariners can expect favorable conditions, with easterly winds blowing at 5-10 knots and a slight sea state producing waves of 1-3 feet.
The National Meteorological Service is also monitoring a tropical wave located east of the Lesser Antilles. While shower activity associated with this system has become slightly better organized, the chance of it developing into a tropical depression within the next 48 hours remains low. The NMS will continue to track the system’s westward movement towards the Caribbean Sea.
Looking ahead, similar weather conditions are expected to persist into Monday and Monday night.
