Belize Weather: Cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms today

By Horace Palacio: The National Meteorological Service of Belize has issued a forecast for cloudy skies with sunny breaks today, along with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. The moist and unstable conditions affecting the country are expected to bring rain mainly to northern and central areas this morning, shifting to inland and over the Maya Mountains this afternoon.

Tonight, the showers and thunderstorms will primarily target southern and coastal areas. Residents are advised to remain cautious and stay updated on weather alerts.

Marine conditions are expected to be relatively calm, with easterly winds blowing at 5-15 knots and a slight to light chop on the sea. Waves are predicted to be between 1 and 4 feet.

Temperatures along the coast will range from 81°F (27°C) to 89°F (32°C). Inland areas will experience warmer conditions, with temperatures reaching 94°F (34°C) and dropping to 74°F (23°C). In the hills, expect a milder range of 68°F (20°C) to 83°F (28°C).

The National Meteorological Service is monitoring a tropical wave currently producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the eastern Caribbean Sea. While the chance of this disturbance developing into a tropical depression within the next 48 hours is low, its westward movement is being closely tracked. No other tropical cyclone formation is anticipated in the region during the same period.

Wednesday is expected to bring cloudy skies at times, with a few showers and thunderstorms affecting most areas in the morning. Shower activity is likely to decrease in the afternoon. However, Wednesday night could see a resurgence of showers and thunderstorms, particularly along the coast.
