By Aaron Humes: Police have detained eight persons, including a police officer, on suspicion of ossesion controlled drugs with intent to supply to another.
This evening at around 4 p.m. there was a joint operation of members of the Quick Response Team, Mobile Interdiction Team and Special Patrol Unit. The officers were tasked to look for illegal firearms and ammunition, but one of the seven occupants of the residence admitted to having cocaine.
Eight parcels of suspected cocaine were recovered from various hiding places in one of the rooms of the house. A police officer arrived claiming that the residence was his mother’s and that he wished to be present; he was informed that he would be presumed to own any illegal item found on the premises.
All eight were cautioned and taken to Corozal Town Police Station as investigation continues.
