By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Former Belmopan Area Representative John Saldivar is calling out UDP Leader Shyne Barrow and Chairman Micheal Peyrefitte for “not acting democratically.”
Saldivar who is a member of the Alliance for Democracy along with his colleagues Tracy Panton, Patrick Faber and Beverly Williams has firmly stated that he remains a UDP.
“People have fought for democracy all over the world. It is our turn here in Belize, our turn in the UDP. A Party that is not democratic cannot run a democratic government. This is not only about the unity of our Party,” Saldivar said.
“Shyne Barrow and Michael Peyrefitte are not acting democratically. The Unity Convention is our attempt to re-establish the principles of democracy in our great United Democratic Party. All freedom loving people, all lovers of democracy need to come out to the Unity Convention and show that the power of the people is greater than the people in power,” Saldivar added.
Saldivar asserted that the time to save the UDP is now.
“The time to save our Party is before we lose it,” he said.
