By Horace Palacio: Due to elevated river levels caused by ongoing inclement weather, all water-related tour activities at the NOHOCH CHE’EN Archaeological Reserve have been temporarily suspended. The decision comes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of visitors and tour operators. The Institute of Archaeology advises all tour guides and visitors to remain vigilant during this period of unstable weather conditions.
While NOHOCH CHE’EN is closed for water activities, all other archaeological reserves across Belize remain open to the public. Tour operators are encouraged to keep a close watch on weather updates and take all necessary precautions to avoid any dangerous situations.
The Institute of Archaeology is actively monitoring the situation and will provide further updates as conditions evolve. Belizeans and tourists are urged to stay informed and adhere to the guidelines provided by authorities to ensure safety during this period of elevated river levels.
