This disturbance is expected to become a tropical storm later.
There is risk of life-threatening storm surge and hurricane force winds along the Louisiana and Upper Texas coast.
Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts.
The disturbance is expected to become a tropical storm later today, with more significant intensification forecast to occur on Tuesday and Wednesday. The system is forecast to become a hurricane before it reaches the northwestern U.S. Gulf Coast.
This system has a 90% chance of formation through the next 7 days.
AL92 is an area of low pressure is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the central tropical Atlantic.
Environmental conditions are marginally conducive for development during the next few days, and a tropical depression could form while the system meanders over the central tropical Atlantic. By the middle part of the week, the system is forecast to move westward-northwestward at around 10 mph.
