By Horace Palacio: A pleasant blend of sunshine and intermittent cloud cover is on the horizon for Belize today, as a gentle airflow ushers in generally fair conditions. However, residents and visitors should remain prepared for the possibility of isolated showers throughout the day and into the night. The National Meteorological Service has indicated that temperatures will vary across the country, with coastal areas experiencing a high of 90°F (32°C) and inland regions reaching a warmer 95°F (35°C).
The presence of Tropical Storm Francine, currently located south-southeast of the Mouth of the Rio Grande, adds a layer of caution to the otherwise favorable forecast. The storm is packing maximum sustained winds of 65 mph and is moving north-northwestward. Additionally, meteorologists are keeping a close eye on an area of low pressure in the Central Tropical Atlantic, which has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression in the coming days.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, the weather pattern is expected to shift slightly, bringing partly cloudy skies and a higher chance of morning showers or isolated thunderstorms, particularly in the southern regions of the country.
For those venturing out to sea, marine conditions are currently favorable, with light chop and waves reaching a maximum of 4 feet. Winds will be predominantly from the east-southeast at speeds of 5-15 knots.
Belizeans are advised to stay informed about the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions, particularly in areas prone to flooding. With the hurricane season in full swing, it is crucial to be prepared for any potential changes in weather conditions.
