Press Release
In an initiative aimed at promoting sustainable practices and improving the livelihoods of local fishermen, the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics & E-governance is proud to announce the distribution of solar kits to fishermen in Stann Creek. This initiative is set to transform the way fishing communities operate, providing them with reliable, eco-friendly energy solutions.
The solar kits, which include high-efficiency solar panels, batteries, and energy-efficient lighting, will enable fishermen to power essential equipment and enhance their operations with minimal environmental impact. By harnessing the power of the sun, these kits offer a sustainable alternative to traditional fossil fuel-based energy sources, aligning with global efforts to reduce carbon footprints and combat climate change.
Key Highlights of the Project:
The distribution of 100 solar kits occurred earlier today in Dangriga Town. Training and support have been provided to ensure that all recipients are equipped to make the most of their new solar technology.
This project represents a significant step forward in our ongoing mission to support sustainable development and empower communities in Belize. The Ministry anticipates the positive impact of this initiative in Stann Creek and is excited about the future possibilities it holds. The Ministry is also grateful to the European Union through the Lait Up Belize Technical Assistance Project for funding these kits.
