Fair weather dominates Belize with isolated showers

By Horace Palacio: Belizeans can expect mainly fair weather today as predominantly sunny skies with a few cloudy intervals are forecasted throughout the country. According to the National Meteorological Service, weather conditions will remain relatively calm, with only isolated showers or thunderstorms anticipated.

Winds will blow from the east-southeast at speeds between 5 to 15 knots, creating light chop in marine areas. The sea state is expected to produce waves between 2 to 4 feet, making for favorable conditions for those heading out to sea. Temperatures along the coast will hover around 90°F during the day, cooling down to 83°F overnight. Inland areas will experience hotter conditions with highs reaching 95°F and lows around 74°F, while mountainous regions will see temperatures dip to 80°F during the day and as low as 68°F at night.

In the tropical weather outlook, Hurricane Francine, located about 195 miles southwest of Morgan City, Louisiana, continues to track northeastward. Francine is currently packing maximum sustained winds of 90 mph and is moving at a speed of 12 mph. While Francine poses no immediate threat to Belize, authorities are keeping a close eye on the system.

Meanwhile, a tropical wave in the Eastern Tropical Atlantic is under observation with a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression over the next 48 hours as it moves west-northwestward at 10-15 mph.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, Belize will see similar weather patterns, with fair skies and only isolated showers or thunderstorms expected. Belizeans are advised to stay updated on tropical developments as the week progresses.

Tidal patterns for today include low tides at 10:44 AM and 8:45 PM, while high tides are set for 5:22 PM this evening and early tomorrow morning at 3:32 AM. The sun rose at 5:40 AM and will set at 5:57 PM. Moonrise is scheduled for 12:48 PM, with moonset at 11:53 PM.
