By Horace Palacio: Belize is set for another warm and mostly sunny day, as the easterly airflow continues to dominate. Temperatures are expected to soar, reaching 90°F along the coast and a sweltering 96°F inland. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions against the heat.
While the general outlook is bright, the National Meteorological Service has warned of the possibility of isolated showers or thunderstorms. These are most likely to occur over the Maya Mountains during the afternoon and evening, and in the south at night or early morning.
The marine forecast is favorable, with light easterly winds and slight sea states. Boaters and fishermen can expect calm conditions on the water.
Tropical Storm Gordon, currently located far out in the Atlantic, poses no threat to Belize. The storm is forecast to continue moving west-northwest, away from the country.
Looking ahead, Sunday and Sunday night are expected to bring more of the same warm and mostly sunny weather.
