Traffic accidents claim three lives in single day

By Horace Palacio: A series of traffic accidents across Belize on Saturday claimed the lives of three individuals, leaving communities in mourning and prompting renewed calls for road safety.

Early Saturday morning, an elderly woman was killed when the vehicle she was a passenger in overturned near Mile 14 on the George Price Highway. The driver of the vehicle was injured and is currently receiving medical treatment.

In a separate incident, a woman tragically lost her life after her pickup truck veered off the road near Georgetown, Stann Creek. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.

Later that night, another fatal crash occurred near Savannah View Restaurant and Uno Gas Station on Hopkins Road. Amand Arana died after the motorcycle he was riding was struck by an SUV. The other rider, Tkeejan Martinez, remains hospitalized.

Investigations into all three accidents are ongoing. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent further tragedies.
