By Horace Palacio: The United Democratic Party (UDP) of Belize has issued a statement disavowing a National Convention purportedly being organized by three expelled members: Patrick Faber, Tracy Panton, and John Saldivar. The trio, according to the UDP, has no authority to announce or hold such an event, which they have scheduled for October 20, 2024.
In a notice addressed to party delegates and supporters, UDP Chairman Michael Peyrefitte reiterated that the three individuals were expelled from the party and do not hold any position or legitimate authority within the organization. Any decisions or outcomes from the planned event will be considered invalid, as the party’s constitution mandates that official events must be sanctioned by the UDP leadership.
The UDP leadership further assured members that the party remains committed to upholding its principles and constitution and that all sanctioned events will be conducted under legitimate leadership according to party rules.
