By Horace Palacio: Belizeans and visitors alike can expect to enjoy mainly fair and warm weather conditions today, September 15, 2024. Skies will be sunny with a few cloudy spells, while isolated showers or thunderstorms are possible, particularly over the Maya Mountains this afternoon and in the south tonight.
Temperatures will range from a high of 96°F inland to a low of 68°F in the hills. Coastal areas can expect a comfortable high of 90°F. Winds will be easterly at 5-10 knots, resulting in slight sea conditions with waves of 1-3 feet.
Looking ahead, Monday will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms affecting mainly central and southern areas in the morning. Shower activity will decrease and become isolated in the afternoon, except for a few more over the south Monday night.
In the tropics, Tropical Storm Gordon is located about 1200 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands and is moving west-southwest. Additionally, a non-tropical area of low pressure has formed off the southeastern U.S. coast and has a medium chance of developing into a subtropical or tropical system in the next 48 hours.
Residents and visitors are advised to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and advisories, especially those in areas prone to afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
