By Horace Palacio: The Institute of Archaeology (IA) under the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) has issued a public notice regarding the limited operation of the Xunantunich ferry. As of this morning, the ferry is operating with a reduced capacity, allowing only two vehicles to cross at a time.
Visitors planning to visit the popular archaeological site are advised to consider this limitation and plan their trip accordingly.
Despite the reduced ferry service at Xunantunich, the IA confirmed that all other archaeological reserves, including the popular cave sites, remain open to the public. The IA/NICH will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
For further information and updates, visitors are encouraged to stay informed through official channels to ensure a smooth and safe experience when visiting Belize’s cultural and historical landmarks.
