Leader of the Opposition Moses ‘Shyne’ Barrow to respond to State of the Nation address on Wednesday

By Aaron Humes: The Leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition, Moses “Shyne” Barrow, is to issue a response to Prime Minister John Briceño’s State of the Nation Address on Wednesday.

The State of the Nation address is expected to become an annual event during the September Celebrations, separated from the Independence Day address given on September 21.

Over the years, the latter address has been an opportunity for the Opposition to take political shots and for the Government to announce new initiatives and defend its record – all in the presence of international dignitaries.

We understand that following last year’s exchange between Barrow and Briceño, negotiations began for a detente on the occasion of Independence Day, keeping that occasion civil.
