By Aaron Humes: The Reverend Pastor Victor Hernandez has been removed from the leadership executive of the National Evangelical Association of Belize (NEAB) following his arrest on charges of rape and sexual assault.
In a statement issued this evening, the organization said, “The National Evangelical Association of Belize was saddened and shocked today to learn from News of the arrest and charges against Rev. Victor Hernandez for sexual crimes. Situations like this are extremely serious and violate God’s Biblical standards for leadership, as well as NEAB’s Code of Ethics.”
Rev. Launcelott Lewis is currently serving as President pro tem of NEAB.
The organization added, “It is imperative that Police do a thorough investigation in this matter. We have reached out to those close to the victim, who is under the care of a licensed trauma therapist as well as loving family. Our hearts are broken as we pray for all involved, and in particular, the victim who has developed the courage to come forward.”
Pastor Hernandez has been charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault and has been offered bail.
