By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 37-year-old man, Gilbert Anthony Conorquie, has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after a court ordered a mental health evaluation due to his erratic behavior. Conorquie appeared unrepresented before the Belize City Magistrate Court today but was unable to have his burglary charge read to him because of his incoherent speech and disoriented demeanor.
The Magistrate, noting his strange behavior, inquired about his health. Conorquie claimed to be fine, mentioning that he does not take medication but receives injections. His responses became increasingly confused, prompting the court to order a mental assessment.
Conorquie is accused of trespassing into the home of Shanda Conorquie on Rivero Street, Belize City, with intent to steal on September 16, 2024. He has been remanded until November 15, 2024, when the court will review his mental health assessment before proceeding.
