By Horace Palacio: Fair and warm weather continues across Belize, with sunny skies and a few cloudy intervals expected throughout Thursday. The National Meteorological Service (NMS) predicts generally isolated showers or thunderstorms, with increased activity over southern Belize later in the evening.
The day’s forecast suggests mostly clear skies, with brief cloudy periods. While most areas will remain dry, isolated thunderstorms could develop, particularly over the south during the night.
Marine conditions are expected to be calm, with light easterly winds blowing at 5 to 15 knots. Sea conditions will be moderate, with waves between 2 and 4 feet. Coastal and maritime activities should be largely unaffected, although brief storms could impact southern regions later in the day.
Temperatures will vary, with inland areas experiencing highs of 95°F (35°C) and lows of 75°F (24°C) overnight. Coastal temperatures will be around 91°F (33°C) during the day, cooling to 83°F (28°C) at night. In the hills, temperatures will range from 81°F (27°C) during the day to a cooler 69°F (21°C) overnight.
Meanwhile, a broad area of low pressure may develop in the western or northwestern Caribbean Sea over the weekend or early next week. Gradual development is possible as the system moves north or northwest into the southeastern Gulf of Mexico. However, the NMS notes that tropical cyclone formation is not expected over the next 48 hours.
For Friday, a few showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely in the morning, especially in the southern and coastal areas, with conditions expected to improve by the afternoon.
