By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belama Phase 5 resident, Hubert Paquill, is once again facing a charge of abetment to murder, just over a week after the same charge was dismissed in court. The 31-year-old security guard appeared before Magistrate Court #2 in Belize City on Wednesday, where he was read a fresh charge of abetment to murder in connection with an incident that occurred on February 16, 2024.
Police allege that Paquill aided 27-year-old Victor Parham in the attempted murder of Eugene Thompson, 41, by luring Thompson out of his house before Parham fired a shot, wounding him. Thompson survived the attack after fleeing into nearby bushes, where police found and rescued him.
Paquill, who had the initial charge dismissed on September 11, 2024, was remanded to prison after failing to meet the $20,000 bail set by the court. He is required to surrender all travel documents and report to the Belama Police Station twice a week. Paquill’s next court appearance is scheduled for November 7, 2024.
