By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belama car dealer accused of running a Facebook Buy & Sell scam is facing fresh legal trouble after another victim came forward. Melbourne Wade Jr., 31, of Apollo Street, was brought to court from Belize Central Prison, where he had been remanded on three previous theft charges.
This morning, Wade was charged with an additional count of theft, following a report made by Kings Auto Sales & Rental. He is accused of dishonestly appropriating a 2011 black Ford Escape and a black Chevrolet Equinox, valued at a total of $49,000, on August 2, 2024.
Wade pleaded not guilty to the new charge, but the court prosecutor objected to bail, citing Wadeβs history of theft charges and his recent remand for violating bail conditions related to similar offenses. Wade is currently facing three counts of theft from separate incidents earlier this month and is also wanted by authorities in other jurisdictions.
Despite Wadeβs claims of innocence, stating that he never forced anyone to give up their property and that his business dealings were legitimate, the Senior Magistrate denied bail. Wade was remanded back to Belize Central Prison until October 24, 2024.
This marks the fourth theft charge against Wade, who was first charged on September 13, 2024, and had his bail revoked earlier this week for violating court conditions.
