By Aaron Humes: A recent string of burglaries in the San Ignacio area has left residents concerned about their safety and security. The most recent incident occurred last Tuesday on the remote Chiquibul Road, where a couple fell victim to a group of armed men who ransacked their home and made off with valuable belongings.
According to ACP Hilberto Romero, Regional Commander of the Eastern Division, the male homeowner reported that he and his wife were held at gunpoint by several intruders who proceeded to tie him up before searching the house for items. The thieves made off with two vehicles, electronic devices, and a significant amount of cash before fleeing the scene.
Police have so far been unable to make any significant progress in identifying the perpetrators or recovering the stolen items. ACP Hilberto Romero assured the public that investigators are actively working to track down the culprits and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in the area.
