By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Westrac Slick Runners’ Roxana Lemus from San Ignacio gained nearly five minutes on her closest competitor on a rainy and gloomy Sunday morning to win the 4th Annual Women’s Belize City 10K. The event was organized by the Belize City Council in collaboration with Councillor Kaya Cattouse, the National Sports Council of Belize, Total Time Belize, and the Belize National Triathlon Association on September 29, 2024.
“Big ups to all the volunteers and racers that gathered early [Sunday] morning,” the Belize City Council said in a social media post.
Lemus clocked in at 52 minutes and 29.9 seconds (0:52:29.9) for the 10-kilometre race. Splash’s Neydy Lopez from Belmopan finished second with a time of 57 minutes and 26.9 seconds (0:57:26.9), trailing by four minutes and 57 seconds.
