Belize City electrician charged with theft of household items

Posted: Thursday, October 3, 2024. 7:00 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man, Phillip Goff, is out on bail after being charged with the theft of household items valued at $4,000. Goff, a 44-year-old electrician, appeared before a Magistrate earlier this week on a single charge of theft. The items allegedly stolen belonged to a woman who was granted ownership of them following her uncle’s death in 2022.

According to the allegations, Goff dishonestly appropriated a range of items, including a flat-screen TV, storage containers, a drill, furniture, and various tools, from the uncle’s residence on Northern Highway in February 2023. The complainant, 39-year-old Shyrlee Lino, told police that she had legal rights to the property under a Grant of Administration but had been unable to retrieve the items from Goff.

Goff, who pleaded not guilty, was granted bail of $1,500 with conditions, including staying 100 yards away from Lino and not being charged with any similar offenses while on bail. His next court date is set for November 29, 2024.
