By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Anguilla, the second strongest team in the Concacaf League C triangular tournament being held at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan, will take on Turks and Caicos Islands at 8:00 pm on Saturday, hoping to join Belize in their promotion to League B.
Belize regained entry to League B by winning Group B on Wednesday when they beat Anguilla 1-0 with a goal scored by Orlando Velasquez. With the best second-place team from the three League C groups also getting promoted, Anguilla stands a chance night with a good win over Turks and Caicos Islands on Saturday night. As it stands after Wednesday’s matches, Anguilla have three points, but have now fallen behind Cayman Islands (Group C), who beat British Virgin Islands 1-0 on Saturday, Cayman now have six points and can still make more with their final game against group leaders, St Kitts & Nevis on Tuesday. However, St. Kitts & Nevis who lead the group with nine points are the favourites after their 4-1 win in September. They need only a draw against Cayman Islands when they meet on Tuesday to secure the top spot.
Anguilla are counting on a win on Saturday and a St Kitts & Nevis win on Tuesday to pull them through. With a 2-0 win over Turks and Caicos in Providenciales during the September window, Anguilla are favoured to win Saturday’s game at the FFB Stadium.

Belize, who defeated Anguilla 1-0 on Wednesday and 1-0 during the September window as well, secured the top spot with nine points and can finish with 12 should they beat TCI again on Tuesday at 8:00 pm.
Belize have also advanced to the Concacaf Gold Cup Play-In home and away matches against a League A team. Since the second-best team of the three League C groups also advances to the Gold Cup Play-In, expect Anguilla to come out strong against Turks and Caicos Islands on Saturday night.
In the other game on Saturday, in Group B, the Bahamas are beating the US Virgin Islands 3-0 at the Wildey Turf in Wildey, Barbados. A victory puts them at four points and with one game remaining on Tuesday against Barbados, that could also complicate things for Anguilla. So far, Barbados, as Group B winners, have also qualified for League B.
Group A comprises Barbados (9 points), the Bahamas (1), and the US Virgin Islands (1), while Group C consists of St. Kitts & Nevis (9 points), the Cayman Islands (6), and the British Virgin Islands (0).
