By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Alliance for Democracy has announced a new venue for its October 20th convention.
Albert Area Representative Tracy Panton continues to invite delegates for the convention that will now be held at the Belize Civic Center commencing at 10am.
Panton also denounced the motion to remove “two of the most Senior Parliamentarians of the Opposition from the Standing House Committees.”
“This decision made out of some sort of distorted and misguided attempt to sanction those of us who will not sit back and remain complicit in the bastardization of our political party’s constitution or the country’s constitution, is not only assanine or a grave travesty it s tyranny in its most ugly form,” Panton said.
“When you attempt to silence the voices of those who are elected to serve, you silence the voices of the people who say you wish to lead. This makes absolutely NO sense and defies all that is reasonable, all that is logical, all that is morally and ethically acceptable,” Panton added.
Panton called on all supporters to defend democracy saying, “We need ALL hands on deck.”
Meanwhile, a leaked recording shared on social media last night revealed that UDP Leader Shyne Barrow was reaching out to delegates attempting to dissuade them from attending or participating in the convention.
