By Aaron Humes: Former leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) and luminary in the Alliance for Democracy (AFD), Patrick Faber, has confirmed that delegates called to the national convention at the Belize Civic Center have voted by overwhelming majority to recall Moses “Shyne” Barrow as party leader.
Faber claims that 368 delegates were in attendance and the vote was 334 in favour and 13 against.
The UDP has previously refused petitions to recall Barrow on two occasions, pointing to a resolution adopted by the National Party Council that agreed to keep Barrow as leader until the next general elections.
The UDP has maintained that today’s convention is of no account since those in charge of it have been expelled from the UDP and the convention is unconstitutional.
