By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 25-year-old San Pedro carpenter, Orlando Alexander Fernández, is facing a $105 fine after being caught with a crack pipe. Fernández, a resident of the DFC area, appeared before a Senior Magistrate in Court #6 late yesterday, where he pleaded guilty to a single charge of possession of a pipe.
Police reported that on Sunday, October 20, 2024, Fernández was found with a 3.5 cm silver metal pipe used for smoking controlled drugs during a search conducted on Barrier Reef Drive in San Pedro Town. When confronted in court, Fernández admitted to the charge, apologizing for his actions and stating it was his first offense.
Taking his clean record into account, the Magistrate imposed a fine of $100 plus $5 in court costs, which Fernández must pay by October 29, 2024, or face a one-month prison sentence.
