Christian Workers Union expresses solidarity with KHMH

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the Christian Workers Union (CWU) issued a statement expressing its support for the KHMH in keeping their union representative on the Board of Governors.

“We are in full support of our sister union at KHMH in leaving their union representative on the Board. I wish this opportunity would be extended to our Board here at SSB. Who else is more qualified to be on the Board than the very representative of the workers who are the most important resource in any organization,” the CWU noted.

In addition, the CWU says that if the Government wants the NTUCB on the Board, then they should allow for a seat for the NTUCB, but leave the KHMH union reps on the Board.

“As for conflict of interests, not everything discussed at the Board is about the staff.

If there is an issue concerning the staff or the collective bargaining agreement, have the union representative excuse himself or herself. GOB must continue to encourage unionism, remember the PUP was built on the labour unions and workers. Don’t move away from your roots,” the CWU added.

The CWU is also asking members of the SSB union to use the KHMH Union logo on their social media to show support.
