By Horace Palacio: Belizeans should be prepared for ongoing wet weather today as showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the country. The National Meteorological Service predicts that these conditions will primarily affect northern and coastal regions during the morning hours, then shift to central and inland areas in the afternoon.
While the rain is expected to diminish by evening, coastal areas may see a resurgence of showers later tonight. Despite the unsettled weather, temperatures will stay warm, reaching the mid-80s Fahrenheit in coastal and inland regions.
The forecast for Wednesday and Wednesday night indicates continued cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Inland areas should anticipate more activity Wednesday afternoon, while northern and coastal areas might see increased rainfall Wednesday night.
Beyond the local forecast, meteorologists are monitoring a developing low-pressure system in the southwestern Caribbean Sea. While no tropical cyclone formation is expected in the next 48 hours, this system has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next week. This potential development warrants close attention from residents of Belize and those with interests in the Caribbean region.
